Finished. :3 First official attempt at realism using Photoshop.
It's Gin, the Siberian my aunt used to have. I felt like doing an animal portrait for practice, and I found the photo I've tried drawing from on several occasions... (THIS being one of those occasions: [link] ...first time in photoshop+no tablet ftw? >.>. I guess it's safe to say I've improved since 2004?
Used a reference photo, as seen in my WIP shots here: [link]
I wanted to loosely base my drawing off the reference, throwing in some of my style as well. So it's probably not as proportional or realistic as the original photo is, but meh. I tried :3
This was more or less a practice at animal portraiture, I've got a big job on my hands that I'm looking at starting within the next week for someone.
And just a tip: people and their light sources! I used to be guilty of this, but after my drawing teacher pointed it out to me, I've started to pay attention... Unless you have a fancy photoshoot set up with multiple lights, there should only ever be one round highlight in the eye. ONLY ONE, coming from the direction of your lightsource. The end.
*glomps anyway* X3
